Nahid Rana is just three Test matches old and was a part of the Bangladesh squad that defeated Pakistan for the first time in the longest format last month.
New Delhi: Bangladesh pace sensation Nahid Rana has warned the Indian team ahead of the two-match Test series, stating his side are well prepared to take up the challenge, starting later this month. The first Test between India and Bangladesh is set to start in Chennai from September 19.
A veteran of just three Test matches, Rana has been impressive and played a crucial part in Bangladesh’s first-ever Test series victory over Pakistan in Pakistan with six wickets in two games. His 4/44 in the second of the second Test match against Pakistan speaks a great volume of Rana’s potential.
The 21-year-old acknowledged that he is ready to face the star-studded Indian team but the team that executes their plans well on the field win the match. “Obviously we are well prepared for India series. We have started training. The more we are prepared, the better we will be in execution during the matches,” Rana said in a video shared by Bangladesh Cricket on X.
“India are a good team but the team that plays better cricket will win. We will see when we go there.” Rana was impressive with his pace too against Pakistan. The right-arm pacer clocked around 150kmph consistently. Rana is currently a part of the Bangladesh camp in Mirpur before they leave for India on September 15.
Asked about his pace, Rana opined it completely depends on rhythm. “I will strive to give my best. Pace is something you can’t always predict – it depends a lot on rhythm. Sometimes, it just clicks, and suddenly you find yourself hitting those speeds.
“I never set out to clock 152 kmph or push past that. I just focused on executing the team’s plan. My friends and folks back in the village are really happy of my achievement,” he added. The second Test between India and Bangladesh starts on September 27 in Kanpur.
