New Delhi: Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh will form a formidable pace attack with the return of Mohammed Shami from a 15-month injury layoff. Both will be in action during the five-match T20I series against England, which starts at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 25.

Arshdeep Singh, the top wicket-taker in the 2024 T20 World Cup and one of the most important players for India in its first-ever victory under Rohit Sharma, has become a bedrock of India’s T20 bowling. At 25, he has also made it to India’s ODI team for the 2025 Champions Trophy, missing out on the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Since his debut in July 2022, Arshdeep Singh has played 60 matches, taking 95 wickets at an economy rate of 8.32 and an average of 18.10. In the November 2023 T20I series against South Africa, he etched his name in history by becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is among pacers.

Arshdeep Singh will get a chance to make history as he looks to break Yuzvendra Chahal’s all-time record when India take on England in the T20I series. Arshdeep needs just two wickets to surpass Chahal’s tally of 96 wickets in 80 matches, making him India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is.

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded Player of the Tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup, while Arshdeep Singh shared the award for being the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi, who claimed 17 wickets in eight matches. In the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Arshdeep took 10 wickets in six games, the most by an Indian, as India reached the semi-finals.
