Baroda delivered a dominant performance against Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, amassing a record-breaking total of 349 runs in Indore.
New Delhi: History has been written in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 as Baroda smashed 349 runs in 20 overs against Sikkim. Baroda’s batting order smashed 37 sixes in their innings and 15 came of those off Bhanu Pania’s bat who smashed 134 off 51 deliveries.
Pania, crossed fifty-run mark in 20 balls and then completed the century mark in 42 ball, he truly displayed his potential. He is right handed middle-order batter and made his debut in List A and T20 for Baroda in 2021. Currently, he is 28-year-old and was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This was his first century in the T20 format and his previous best score was 55.
Before the Sikkim match, he had a T20 average of 25.61 from 35 games, while his strike rate was at an impressive 135.68. His List A average is 21, and he showed fine form in the current SMAT by scoring match-winning knocks against Karnataka, Saurashtra, and Tamil Nadu before he pulled off the heroics for Sikkim.
Bhanu Pania, Shivalik Sharma, and Vishnu Solanki put on a power-hitting masterclass, with each of them smashing quickfire fifties that propelled Baroda to the highest-ever T20 total. In reply, Sikkim could muster only 86 runs as Baroda crushed Sikkim by an enormous margin of 263 runs, consolidating their dominance in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.
