New Delhi: Recently, the news of the rift between Rishabh Pant and the management of Delhi Capitals caught everyone’s attention. According to media reports, Delhi has excluded Rishabh Pant from its retention list. The team has decided to retain Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs and Abhishek Porel, but this list has not been confirmed yet. Meanwhile, a new update has come out that Delhi can target Shreyas Iyer, who has also captained this team before.
According to the Times of India, Rishabh Pant not only demanded captaincy from the DC management but he also wanted to contribute to the selection process of the coaching staff. However, the Delhi team management is not happy with Pant’s performance and his captaincy. Therefore, the team has decided not to retain Pant. It was also told that the decision to release Pant had not been taken overnight, this matter of rift had been going on for a long time.
On the other hand, Iyer followed Gautam Gambhir’s path to lead KKR to their third IPL title. But as per reports, the Kolkata-based franchise will certainly leave the Indian batter out of their retention list and he will also enter the IPL 205 mega auction which is scheduled to take place later this year.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan issued a warning to both DC and KKR regarding the future of Pant and Iyer. He posted on X, “If Shreyas Iyer isn’t retained after leading the team to an IPL title, it’d be a real loss. hoping Delhi also works to keep Rishabh Pant—his potential as both a player and captain, along with his market value, is massive. #IPLRetention”.
