India captain Rohit Sharma also hailed SKY for his timely 50* off 49 balls.
“He showed he has a different game to him, that’s what you expect from experienced players. Credit to the way he stuck through today to take the game deep and win it for us,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
Meanwhile, against the USA on Wednesday, chasing 111 to win, India got off to a disastrous start as they lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early in the piece. Saurabh Natravalkar picked up both the wickets before claiming the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant as well. But once Surya and Dube got together there was no looking back for India as they cruised home.
Earlier, pacer Arshdeep Singh was brilliant with the ball while taking four wickets as India restricted the USA to 110/8. Nitish Kumar (27, 23b, 2×4 1×6) batted well in the company of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson (15, 12b, 1×4, 1×6) after the USA were asked to bat first. For India, Arshdeep (4/9) and Hardik Pandya (2/14) were the best in the park, picking up six wickets between them.
