Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli’s wife Andrea Hewitt helped his walk with support during Wankhede Stadium’s 50th anniversary celebration in Mumbai.
Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli was recently seen at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, accompanied by his second wife, Andrea Hewitt, as they attended the venue’s 50th anniversary celebration on Sunday. Kambli was married to hotel receptionist Noella Lewis before he met model Andrea and got married to her in 2006.
Since then Andrea has been Kambli’s support system as he continue to fall from grace from his glory days in cricket. Recently Kambli was admitted in Akruti Hospital in Thane for treatment of clots in his brain apart from various other ailments like urine infection. Kambli was seen in a very frail state before that as he had met his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar at an event to celebrate their late coach Ramakant Achrekar’s birthday in Mumbai. The video of their meeting had gone viral on social media.
Kambli has faced numerous health challenges over the years. Andrea Hewitt, a former model, met Kambli around the year 2000, and after dating for six years, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2006. They are proud parents to a son and a daughter.

Reports suggest that Kambli has been facing financial difficulties. He currently relies on a monthly pension of Rs 30,000 from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to cover his family’s expenses. Andrea had recently revealed that their housing society is demanding Rs 18 lakh in unpaid maintenance fees. While a political party reportedly extended financial aid of Rs 5 lakh, it remains insufficient to clear their dues.
A few days ago, Kambli attended a felicitation event at the Wankhede Stadium, where several former cricketers from the state were honored by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for their contributions.
During the event, Kambli exchanged greetings with cricketing peers such as Sanjay Manjrekar and Wasim Jaffer before being felicitated by former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. In a touching moment, he paid his respects to Gavaskar by touching his feet, despite his visible struggle to walk.
Reflecting on his career, Kambli had said, “I remember scoring my first double century here against England, which was followed by many more centuries throughout my career. If anyone aspires to play for India like Sachin (Tendulkar) and me, my advice is to work hard consistently and never give up, as that’s what Sachin and I did since our childhood.”
Kambli then added, “I have scored two double centuries against England at this very stadium. It holds countless cherished memories for me. I wish all aspiring cricketers the very best.”
