New Delhi: Olympic medalist and India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra has shared big news. After the retirement of Klaus Bartonietz, Neeraj Chopra’s new coach has been announced. Neeraj Chopra’s new coach is Jan Zelezny. He has many Olympic gold medals and World Championship titles as well as many records to his name. He will replace Neeraj’s previous coach Dr. Klaus Bartonietz, with whom Neeraj has won two Olympic and two World Championship medals.N
Neeraj Chopra is happy to have Zelezny as his coach:
Neeraj Chopra has now chosen three-time Olympic champion and current world record holder Jan Zelezny as his coach for his training. Zelezny has been given this important responsibility under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) of the Indian Sports Ministry, and his salary will also be borne by the ministry.
Expressing excitement about this new journey, Neeraj Chopra said, “Since childhood, I have been a big fan of Zelezny’s technique and accuracy. I was always inspired by watching his videos. Now the opportunity to work with him will add new dimensions to my career. Our throwing styles are also very similar, which I will benefit from this partnership.”

Jan Zelezny is a name in the world of javelin throw who has won gold medals in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. The record he made in 1996 by throwing a distance of 98.48 meters has not been broken by anyone till date. Zelezny also holds the title of World Championship in 1993, 1995 and 2001. His records include five of the top 10 longest throws in the world. Zelezny has also coached some of the Czech Republic’s best players such as Jakub Vadlejch, Vitezslav Vesely and three-time world champion Barbora Spotakova.
